Convert your Anki deck
Or drop it anywhere on this page. Works with .apkg and .colpkg files from Anki, AnkiDroid and AnkiMobile.
Your deck is read on this device and never uploaded.
Step by step
How to convert an Anki deck to CSV
An .apkg file is a zipped database, so spreadsheets can’t open it directly. This page reads it in your browser and writes a plain CSV that Excel, Google Sheets and other apps understand.
- Get the deck as an .apkg file.
Download a shared deck from AnkiWeb, or export your own: in Anki on a computer, choose File, then Export, pick Anki Deck Package (.apkg), choose the deck and select Export. AnkiDroid and AnkiMobile can export a deck too.
- Choose or drop it here.
Select Choose .apkg file, or drop the file onto this page. Your browser reads it in a moment, even when the deck is full of images, because only the text is read.
- Pick your columns.
All fields gives one row per note with every field in its own column. Front & back gives two columns, one row per card, with cloze deletions split into separate cards.
- Download or copy.
Download CSV for Excel, Numbers or Google Sheets, download TSV for tab-separated text, or select Copy for Quizlet to paste the cards into Quizlet’s Import box.
What the converter keeps
- Every note and every field, in the order Anki stores them
- Tags, plus the deck and subdeck each note is in
- Cloze deletions, as written or split into one card per blank
- Line breaks, accents, symbols and non-Latin scripts
- The original HTML formatting, if you tick Keep HTML formatting
It reads both kinds of .apkg file: the modern format Anki uses by default and the older one made with Support older Anki versions. It also opens .colpkg collection backups.
Going the other way? Turn a Quizlet set into Anki cards with the free Quizlet to Anki converter, or AI-made flashcards with the ChatGPT to Anki converter.
What it can’t move
- Images and audio, because CSV files hold text only
- Review history, due dates and other scheduling
- Card templates and styling
- Image occlusion cards, because they’re pictures rather than text
Your deck in Anki stays exactly as it was. The converter only reads a copy of the file.

Common questions
APKG to CSV FAQ
Is this APKG to CSV converter free?
Yes. It is free, needs no account or sign-up, and sets no limit on how many cards you convert.
Is my deck uploaded anywhere?
No. Your browser reads the file on your device, and nothing from it is sent to same3le or anyone else. Even a deck with thousands of images is fine, because only the text is read.
How do I export an .apkg file from Anki?
In Anki on a computer, choose File, then Export. Pick Anki Deck Package (.apkg), choose the deck, and select Export. You can leave Include media unticked, since the CSV only holds text.
Does it work with the newest Anki format?
Yes. It reads modern .apkg files, which Anki makes by default, and older ones exported with Support older Anki versions. It also opens .colpkg collection backups.
What happens to images and audio?
CSV files can only hold text, so images and audio are not included, and the converter tells you how many your deck has. If you tick Keep HTML formatting, the CSV keeps their file names inside the HTML.
How are cloze deletions handled?
With All fields, cloze text stays as written, like {{c1::Paris}}. With Front & back, each blank becomes its own card: the front shows the sentence with […] in place of the answer, and the back shows the answer.
Can I move an Anki deck to Quizlet?
Yes. Open the deck here and select Copy for Quizlet. Then, on the Quizlet website, choose Create, then Flashcard set, then Import, and paste. Quizlet only imports on its website, not in its app.
Can I study the cards without installing Anki?
Yes. same3le, the free app that made this converter, reads each question aloud and listens to your spoken answer in the browser. Use the button under your converted deck to start.
